Loddon is a market town situated in the county of Norfolk, England. It is located on the River Chet, which is a tributary of the River Yare. The town is approximately 6 miles southwest of Norwich and is part of the South Norfolk district. It has a population of around 4,000 people and is a popular tourist destination due to its rich history and stunning countryside.

Loddon has been an inhabited area since at least the Iron Age, and its name is thought to be derived from the Old English for 'Loda's Hill'. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and was the site of a castle built by the Normans. The town was granted a charter to hold a market in 1253 and soon became a prosperous trading centre.

The town has seen many changes throughout the centuries, and in the 19th century it was an important centre for the lace-making industry. This quickly declined and by the 1950s the town had become a rural backwater. The town centre was redeveloped in the 1960s and now includes a range of shops, restaurants and pubs.

Loddon is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in Norfolk. The River Chet meanders through the town and is a popular spot for fishing and watersports.
